Currently there is one OB/Gyn in Fort St John and one OB/Gyn 75km away in Dawson Creek. The Emergency Room sees 25,000+ visits per year.</p><p>Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City” and is located at Mile 47 of the world famous Alaska Highway. The city has numerous restaurants, cafés, and a health food store. It is the cultural and commercial hub of the Northeast, with a performing and visual arts centre, library, art gallery and theatre.</p><p>Recreational opportunities in the Fort St. John area include speed-skating, indoor walking track, indoor soccer, golf, tennis, yoga, dance, mountain biking, walking trails, hiking, boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, camping, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, curling, and hockey. Fort St. John also hosts a weekly downtown Farmer's Market, open May to October. Fort St John Regional Airport offers daily direct flights to Vancouver and Calgary.</p><p>Fort St. John has seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and one private school. Northern Lights College provides post-secondary education.
