<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>New Grads are welcome! Northern Health is seeking an Anesthesiologist for Fort St John, British Columbia, a vibrant city with a young and growing population. We welcome candidates who are interested in establishing and running a Pain Clinic.</p><h3>Facility and Services</h3><p>Fort St. John Hospital is a new state-of-the-art 55 bed hospital serving a population of approximately 23,000, and is one of two hospitals serving a catchment area of approximately 70,000. The facility offers services including diagnostics, surgery, acute care, ICU, maternity, a community cancer centre, community hemodialysis, visiting specialists clinic, and a prenatal clinic.</p>
<h3>Medical Staff</h3><p>Local specialists include General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Radiology and Pathology. Visiting specialists include Ophthalmology, ENT, Pediatrics, and Neurology.</p>
<h3>Community Highlights</h3><ul><li>Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City” and is located at Mile 47 of the Alaska Highway in Northeastern BC.</li><li>The city offers restaurants, cafés, health food store, arts, library, theatre, and the Ovintiv Events Centre in Dawson Creek (about an hour away).</li><li>Recreational opportunities include speed-skating, indoor walking track, indoor soccer, golf, tennis, yoga, dance, mountain biking, hiking, boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, camping, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, curling, and hockey. Weekly downtown Farmer's Market May–October.</li><li>Airport offers daily flights to Vancouver and Calgary.</li><li>Educational institutions: seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, one private school; post-secondary education at Northern Lights College and the University of Northern British Columbia.</li><li>Regional industries include agriculture, forestry, natural gas, construction, and transportation.</li></ul></p>
