We encourage applicants from designated groups to apply and self-identify.</p><h3>About Institutional Research</h3><p>A unit that gathers, analyzes and provides data and reports to support evidence-based planning and decision-making. It provides business intelligence, develops key performance metrics and supplies analytics, reports and system-level comparisons to support Yukon University in measuring and upholding accountabilities at the territorial level and within the national post-secondary sector.</p><p>Institutional Research maintains clean, usable data to advance planning documents and is responsible for the quality of data shared with Yukon Governments.</p><h3>About the Role</h3><p>This position requires a strong understanding of most university areas, including business and academic functions. You will communicate effectively and build trusting relationships with university and external colleagues. You will scan the environment for information and techniques to improve processes and ensure data and reports are relevant to specific audiences.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Oversee collection, modelling, analysis, interpretation, reporting and dissemination of information to allow key stakeholder groups to predict, monitor and evaluate performance on institutional initiatives in alignment with Yukon University’s Strategic Plan and planning documents (including the Reconciliation Framework and the EDI Action Plan).</li><li>Build a comprehensive, ongoing culture of institutional data collection, analysis, management and dissemination to support planning and decision-making at all levels, particularly for public accountability, budget and finance, external rankings, and institutional effectiveness.</li><li>Coordinate/prepare planning and resource materials for governance and decision-making groups (e.g., Board of Governors, President Executive Committee, Senior Executive Committee) and external stakeholders including Yukon First Nations, Territorial and Federal governments.</li><li>Provide data, information and official statistics for internal and external reporting, including development of reports and presentations for transparency and public accountability (e.g., Yukon University Annual Report, Accountability Framework, Strategic Plan Performance reports, and annual budget reports).</li><li>Oversee federal accountability reporting including Statistics Canada data submissions and ensure timelines are met.</li><li>Oversee institutional participation in territorial, national and international research benchmarking initiatives.</li><li>Collaborate with divisional leaders (Marketing & Communications, IT, Office of the Registrar) and internal clients to ensure BI products and related processes and systems support data quality, integrity and effective reporting.</li><li>Provide support and leadership for annual budget planning and reporting activities.</li><li>Lead development of institutional policies that align with and uphold the unit’s operations.</li><li>Develop data quality standards and processes and ensure they are met.</li><li>Maintain currency in best practices regarding research in higher education and in Institutional Research and Planning.</li><li>Represent YukonU on territorial, national and international committees and initiatives.</li></ul><h3>Education and experience</h3><ul><li>Master’s degree in a related field (Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Business Analytics) or a Master’s degree with demonstrated experience in working with data for status indicators and planning/decision-making.</li><li>Experience with multiple data indicators, sources and platforms (including Power BI) for BI reporting and data visualization.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize complex data sets and communicate critical information to stakeholders.</li><li>Experience in a corporate or institutional research office (or similar function) with progressively increasing responsibility; experience in research and planning is preferred.</li><li>Experience working in a post-secondary institution is preferred.</li></ul><p>The Institutional Research Analyst reports directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor. The position is located at the Ayamdigut Campus in Whitehorse and is a full-time on-site role.</p><p>Yukon University is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.
