<p><h3>Overview</h3><p><b>Title:</b> Technical Business Systems Analyst with Foreign Exchange (FX)</p><p><b>Requisition ID:</b> 235717</p><p>Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture. </p><p><b>Location:</b> Canada : Ontario : Toronto</p><h3>The Team</h3><p>Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.</p><h3>The Role</h3><p>GBME is searching for Technical Specialist Advisory to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME. The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.</p><p><b>Initial Project Overview</b></p><p>The <b>FX Modernization Project Lead</b> will spearhead the strategic transformation of the Foreign Exchange (FX) technology platform. This role is critical in delivering enhanced operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building a scalable infrastructure to support global FX business growth.</p><h3>Key Skills & Experience Required</h3><ul><li><b>Industry & Domain Expertise</b><ul><li>7+ years of experience in capital markets technology.</li><li>Deep understanding of FX markets, trading platforms, and instruments including spot, forwards, swaps, and options.</li><li>Experience working with traders, developers, compliance teams, and senior stakeholders.</li></ul></li><li><b>Leadership & Delivery</b><ul><li>Proven track record in leading large-scale transformation initiatives.</li><li>Strong ability to manage cross-functional teams and oversee end-to-end delivery of capital markets technology projects.</li><li>Skilled in translating business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.</li></ul></li><li>Excellent facilitation skills to drive discussions across vendors, business units, and technology teams.</li><li>Ability to foster cross-functional collaboration and maintain alignment across stakeholders.</li><li><b>Technical Skills</b><ul><li>Proficiency in SQL, Unix/Linux, and MS Office Suite – must-have.</li><li>Familiarity with FX platforms such as Wall Street System (WSS-FX), Murex, or ION – nice to have.</li></ul></li><li><b>Core Competencies</b><ul><li>Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.</li><li>Comfortable navigating complex regulatory and operational environments.</li></ul></li></ul><h3>As part of the role, you’ll</h3><ul><li>Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.</li><li>Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.</li><li>Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as required.</li><li>Participate in the development of detailed project plans, the monitoring of progress against planned objectives, the financial review, and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.</li><li>Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.</li><li>Liaising between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.</li><li>Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.</li><li>Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.</li><li>Perform ad hoc work as needed.</li></ul><h3>Minimum Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.</li><li>7+ years practical experience and product business knowledge in capital markets.</li><li>Minimum 5 years working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, with ability to create and run queries independently.</li><li>Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).</li><li>Proficient with Unix Tools, shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.), SQL queries, PL/SQL, and SQL Loader - or equivalent</li><li>Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.</li><li>Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.</li><li>Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.</li><li>An undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required.</li><li>Excellent working experience of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).</li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3><ul><li>An understanding of the Bank’s application system and software from a business/technical viewpoint is required to assess the impact of development and/or changes to the overall data processing environment.</li><li>Experience managing projects that span change in front, middle or back-office systems and teams.</li><li>Experience with but not limited to PL/SQL, SQL Loader, UNIX Tools, shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python), JAVA, XML, HTML, is an asset.</li></ul><h3>What’s in it for you?</h3><ul><li>Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Allyship - We strive to create an inclusive culture where every employee is empowered to reach their fullest potential, respected for who they are, and are embraced through bias-free practices and inclusive values across Scotiabank.
