<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Providing data and visibility to teams and leadership on application performance</li><li>Guiding the development of SLOs</li><li>Driving the Incident Management and Analysis process</li><li>Steering the implementation of Change Management and Deployment practices</li><li>Engaging in service and architectural conversations</li><li>Recommending observability and alerting configurations</li></ul><h3>Team capabilities</h3><p>The SRE team benefits from experience across many domains including infrastructure, platform, and distributed systems; capacity management, load and chaos testing; automation, observability, and configuration management; development and product experience.</p><h3>What Youor</h3><ul><li>Owning and delivering quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensuring that everyone is supported during delivery</li><li>Collaborating with product management, design & analytics in the product development lifecycle by ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs</li><li>Proactively identifying project, process, technology or business issues, advocating for them, and leading in solving them</li><li>Supporting the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on-call efforts</li><li>Fostering a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond your team through writing and tech talks</li><li>Helping develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example</li></ul><h3>What We Look For</h3><ul><li>4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin</li><li>Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes</li><li>4+ years working in a Site Reliability or Production Engineering team</li><li>Curiosity with empathy, and strong opinions loosely held</li><li>Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design; ability to write high quality code</li><li>Proficiency at making significant changes in a large code base and developing tools and practices to enable safe changes</li><li>Ownership of personal growth with proactive feedback seeking</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting collaboration with a global engineering team</li></ul><h3>Compensation and Benefits</h3><ul><li>Base Pay Grade: N</li><li>Equity Grade: 6</li><li>CAN base pay range per year: $150,000 - $200,000</li><li>Base pay is part of a total compensation package including equity rewards, stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and dependents)</li><li>Affirm may offer equity rewards; eligibility varies</li></ul><p>Affirm is remote-first. Some roles are fully remote; some require occasional work from an office.
