Overview of the Portfolios:
We have multiple positions available in the following areas:
- Real Estate: Real property law with broad experience in one or more of the following areas: residential and commercial real estate transactions, easements, leasing/licensing matters, and secured financing. Exposure to or expertise in: expropriation law, land development, municipal law, negotiation with government agencies and utility providers, and affordable housing law would be an asset.
- Information Technology: Advising on, negotiating, and drafting a variety of agreements, including procurement documents, associated with information technology, cybersecurity, and privacy law. Providing legal advice and services in one or more of the following areas: general corporate transactional and municipal advice; legal services to municipal departments, corporations, and related entities.
- Litigation/Dispute Resolution: Represent the Region of Peel in proceedings before courts of all levels and administrative tribunals, including but not limited to the Ontario Land Tribunal and Human Rights Tribunal. Provide advice, prepare strategy, and draft documents on a range of disputes, such as commercial matters, insurance defence, government procurement, real property, landlord and tenant disputes, etc. Handle disputes from intake to resolution, including conducting trials and administrative hearings. Provide legal and legislative policy advice to Council on matters relevant to litigation and dispute resolution.
- Construction & Infrastructure: Advising on construction and infrastructure matters including drafting tenders, construction and consultant contracts, advising on project structures and risks, acting for a broad range of clients delivering water, wastewater, waste, transportation, and other services. Acting and advising on construction disputes including liens and claims for delays and extras.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- Call to the Ontario Bar and membership in good standing
- 1+ years of legal experience
- Strong interest in real estate, construction, information technology, litigation/dispute resolution, or have a general municipal background

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in-person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
It’s important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we’re compliant with all regulations and policies.
