<p><h3>Senior Finance Clerk</h3>
<p>The District of Kent, located in the picturesque Eastern Fraser Valley, is offering an exciting opportunity in our Financial Services Department for a Senior Finance Clerk. This role performs a variety of accounting and clerical functions with emphasis on payroll and accounts payable, and also includes processing utility billings and tax notices, annual tax sale, home owner grants, tax deferments and refunds, reconciling tax accounts, calculating property taxes, penalties and interest, cash accounting including reconciliation of cash transactions, reconciling various accounts and subledgers, preparing audit working papers, providing assistance and information to the public, cash receipting, and miscellaneous analyses.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Payroll processing and accounts payable activities.</li>
<li>Process utility billings and tax notices, annual tax sale, home owner grants, tax deferments and refunds.</li>
<li>Reconcile tax accounts and calculate property taxes, penalties and interest.</li>
<li>Cash accounting including reconciliation of cash transactions.</li>
<li>Reconcile various accounts and subledgers; prepare audit working papers.</li>
<li>Provide information and assistance to the public; cash receipting and miscellaneous analyses.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Post-secondary education in accounting and commercial courses with formalized training; enrollment in the CPA accounting program or academic equivalent.</li>
<li>Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a municipal finance/payroll environment or recognized equivalent financial environment with related duties.</li>
<li>Ability to perform mathematical/arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy; capable of working with minimal supervision.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the public, and related governmental or community agencies.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Compensation and Benefits</h3>
<p>Pay and benefits for this CUPE Local 458 bargaining unit position are in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The 2025 post-probationary wage rate for this position is $37.44 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.</p>
