<p><strong>Summary</strong></p><p>We are seeking a highly skilled Senior backend Developer who will be a part of our Government of Canada delivery team, responsible for delivering security solutions for the Bell Business Markets (BBM) team. You will work with the development team and other stakeholders to bring complex customer requirements to life using a variety of systems and tools. You will assist in defining, developing, and deploying security-focused solutions that exceed the needs of our customers. You will work with teams to ensure that best practices for process and quality standards are maintained to foster a culture of “enhanced security solutions” within the organization.</p><p>Note: A Government of Canada PSPC security clearance at level SECRET (Level II) is required for this position.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Designing and coding application programs, followed by testing to ensure functionality. Reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems—including encoding, testing, debugging, and deploying—to support a highly available system.</li><li>Communicate effectively with remote teams, adapt rapidly, and learn fast. Understand complex business use cases, design appropriate solutions, and develop the underlying implementation.</li><li>Familiarity and hands-on experience with profiling, code efficiency, and building software through continuous integration and delivery pipelines.</li><li>Ensure the operating efficiency of existing application systems.</li><li>Maintain accurate records for documentation of systems development and revisions.</li><li>Analyze organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems.</li><li>Hands-on experience building secure, scalable, performant, and highly available APIs. API development language and frameworks.</li><li>Hands-on experience troubleshooting and understanding legacy code to handle issues and implement enhancements.</li><li>Familiarity with container concepts, architecture, tools and frameworks. Hands-on experience preferred.</li><li>Understanding and experience with one commercial cloud solution such as AWS (preferred) or GCP.</li><li>Knowledge and experience with DevOps/CI/CD pipelines and tools such as JIRA, Git, Jenkins, UCD; Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).</li><li>Employing a test-and-learn approach to problem-solving, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize outcomes.</li></ul>
<h3>Technical Requirements</h3><p>The ideal candidate will have experience with the following technologies and tools:</p><ul><li>Programming Languages & Frameworks: Java 8+ EE, SpringBoot, Python, Bash</li><li>Application Servers & Middleware: JBoss application server, EJB, Quartz</li><li>Persistence & Data Access: Hibernate/JPA, ANSI SQL, Oracle 19c</li><li>Web Services & APIs: JAXB, JAXWS, JAXRS</li><li>Libraries & Tools: Apache POI</li><li>Version Control & CI/CD: Git, GitLab CI/CD</li><li>Development Environment: Eclipse, Maven</li><li>Operating Systems: Linux</li></ul>
<h3>Capabilities</h3><ul><li>Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with aggressive timelines</li><li>Ability to work with change/ambiguity in a dynamic environment</li><li>Ability to work in a hybrid environment – 3 days on-site, 2 days remote</li><li>Proven problem solving ability with complex, technical and abstract concepts</li><li>A team player with the confidence to challenge and escalate when necessary</li><li>Previous experience in the telecommunication industry and Government of Canada contracts are assets</li></ul>
