Power Engineer

Job Description

<p><h3>Overview</h3>
<p>The Power Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of an Engineer as defined by the Province of Prince Edward Island Boiler and Pressure Vessels Act, working in a 12-hour shift work environment.</p>
<p>Hourly Wage: $26.62/hr. - $48.51/hr. (depending on the license you hold)</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Daily walk around – Visually verify all equipment is functioning properly around the plant: compressors (16), air compressors (3), tunnels where fries are frozen (2), spiral fryers (2), cold storage (3), boilers, etc.</li>
<li>Small repairs – The operator may complete small repairs such as draining oil, fixing leaks requiring the use of small hand tools such as pipe wrenches, etc.</li>
<li>Log checks – The operator completes the log every 2 hours. This includes checking items such as temperature, pressure, water levels, etc.</li>
<li>Monitoring – Must monitor various pressures, temperatures, flows, levels, various sensors, and acknowledge alarms associated with the equipment.</li>
<li>Preventive maintenance – Checking pumps, motors, belts, strainers, and other parts, including replacement or disassembly as needed.</li>
<li>Housekeeping and routine duties – Dust compressors (1 hr/week), mop floors (approximately 45 min).</li>
<li>Compliance and safety – All employees have an obligation to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate corrective action.</li>
<li>Operations standards – Ensure day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment standards are maintained.</li>
<li>Troubleshooting and preventative maintenance – Identify and address issues to prevent downtime.</li>
<li>Projects and installations – Participate in projects and conduct new equipment installations.</li>
<li>Training – Conduct training on plant equipment.</li>
</ul> <h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Must hold a standardized Class 2, 1 Power Engineer license (Class 3 or 4 Power Engineer with relevant experience may be considered).</li>
<li>Proven expertise in ammonia refrigeration systems is a significant advantage.</li>
<li>Familiarity with safety protocols and operational best practices specific to ammonia systems.</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication abilities.</li>
<li>Capacity to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.</li>
