JOB DESCRIPTION
The Packaging Engineer will develop innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions. This role involves designing, testing, and optimizing packaging systems to support product protection, operational efficiency, and environmental goals. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Packaging Design & Process Management: • Design and engineer optimal packaging solutions. • Analyze products to determine ideal packaging configurations. • Optimize stacking methods for space utilization and stability.
Load Testing & Validation: • Conduct rigorous testing to ensure packaging meets standards. • Collaborate on secure palletization strategies. Continuous Improvement & Engineering: • Identify and implement process improvements. • Research and implement new materials and technologies. • Lead sustainability initiatives. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: • Partner with other teams to integrate packaging designs with operations.
Packaging Performance & Quality Assurance: • Ensure packaging meets quality standards. • Ensure compliance with industry regulations. Technical Support & Troubleshooting: • Provide technical support for packaging issues. Documentation & Reporting: • Maintain detailed records and generate performance reports. • Develop interactive dashboards and advanced reporting systems. • Maintain up-to-date documentation of packaging specifications and SOPs.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications: • Software: Familiarity with CAPE, TOPS, Esko WebCenter. • Certifications: Packaging engineering or related fields (e.g., IoPP, Six Sigma). • Trends: Knowledge of consumer packaging trends.
Education & Experience: • Degree: Bachelor’s in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. • Experience: 3+ years in packaging engineering, focusing on design, materials selection, and process optimization. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and packaging testing standards (ISTA, ASTM). • Materials: Understanding of packaging materials (corrugated board, plastics, foam). • Systems: Experience with ERP, MRP, and planning systems. • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools. Skills: • Expertise: Knowledge of packaging design principles, material science, and manufacturing processes. • Analytical: Ability to solve complex packaging problems and develop efficient solutions. • Project Management: Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence. • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and suppliers. Work Conditions: • Onsite 5 days per week.
