<p>Position Background: Our Lead Carpenter and Landscaper plays a key role in crafting high-quality outdoor spaces that align with Parklane Landscapes' mission. They are responsible for executing and overseeing carpentry and landscape construction elements while ensuring projects meet our standards of excellence. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, enjoys mentoring others, and thrives in an outdoor, hands-on environment. Additionally, they play a crucial role in detailing and estimating proposed landscape carpentry work, ensuring accurate planning and budgeting for new projects.</p><p>What We Look for in Our Lead Carpenter and Landscaper: This leadership role requires a high level of skill, responsibility, and collaboration. Lead Carpenters work closely with Forepersons and Project Managers to bring our designs to life while training and supporting other crew members. They are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and dedicated to continuous learning. They align with our mission and embody the "4 P's" of Parklane—People, Planet, Passion, and Performance.</p><p>Reports to: Construction Manager and General Manager<br><br>Works daily with: Construction Manager, Team Members, Sales & Estimating Team</p><p>Responsibilities of Our Lead Carpenter and Landscaper:</p><p>1. On-Site Carpentry & Landscape Construction</p><ul><li>Lead and perform all aspects of landscape carpentry, including decks, fences, pergolas, and other wood structures.</li><li>Assist in landscape installations, including hardscaping and softscaping, when carpentry tasks are not scheduled.</li><li>Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to company quality standards.</li><li>Read and interpret landscape and engineered drawings.</li><li>Operate and maintain construction tools and equipment,</li></ul><p>2. Leadership & Team Development</p><ul><li>Train and mentor team members in carpentry techniques and construction practices.</li><li>Promote a culture of collaboration, respect, and professional development.</li><li>Lead by example, ensuring adherence to company policies and health & safety practices.</li></ul><p>3. Material Handling & Equipment Management</p><ul><li>Oversee the loading, unloading, and transportation of materials, tools, and equipment.</li><li>Maintain organization and cleanliness of trucks, trailers, and job sites.</li><li>Ensure proper care, use, and storage of company tools and equipment.</li></ul><p>4. Health & Safety Compliance</p><ul><li>Uphold and enforce all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe work environment for the team.</li><li>Utilize and promote the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).</li><li>Identify and report hazards, contributing to a proactive safety culture.</li></ul><p>5. Project Coordination & Communication</p><ul><li>Work closely with Forepersons and Project Managers to align on project goals and deadlines.</li><li>Communicate with clients professionally, addressing any questions or concerns.</li><li>Monitor project progress and provide updates as needed.</li></ul><p>6. Estimating & Project Detailing</p><ul><li>Assist in preparing detailed project estimates for landscape carpentry work, ensuring accurate budgeting and material costs.</li><li>Collaborate with the Sales & Estimating Team to refine proposals and provide expert insight on feasibility and site conditions.</li><li>Assist with SketchUp and Lumion designs as needed.</li></ul><p>Results We See from a Great Lead Carpenter and Landscaper:</p><ul><li>Projects are completed efficiently, with excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.</li><li>Team members feel supported, trained, and engaged in continuous improvement.</li><li>Equipment, tools, and job sites are well-organized, reducing downtime and increasing productivity.</li><li>A strong commitment to safety, leading to fewer incidents and a healthier work environment.</li><li>A positive client experience, with projects exceeding expectations and minimal call-backs.</li><li>Strong collaboration and communication across the team, ensuring seamless project execution.</li><li>Accurate and well-planned estimates that contribute to profitable and well-executed projects.</li><li>A streamlined planning process that minimizes unexpected costs and enhances project efficiency.</li></ul><p>Additional Skills & Qualifications for This Hands-On Role:</p><ul><li>3-5 years of professional carpentry experience in a landscape or construction setting.</li><li>Experience with estimating and project detailing is a strong asset.</li><li>Ability to lead, train, and mentor team members effectively.</li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret landscape and construction drawings.</li><li>Valid G or higher driver's license with a clean abstract.</li><li>Valid First Aid and CPR certification.</li><li>Proficiency in SketchUp and Lumion is an asset.</li><li>Passion for craftsmanship and working in an outdoor environment</li></ul><p>Job Type: Full-time</p><p>Pay: $21.00-$28.00 per hour</p><p>Benefits:</p><ul><li>Company events</li><li>Dental care</li><li>Extended health care</li><li>On-site parking</li><li>Vision care</li></ul><p>Language:</p><ul><li>English (preferred)</li></ul><p>Work Location: In person</p>
