  • Full Time
  • Toronto

Burdock Brewery

Burdock Brewery is a downtown Toronto brewery with two facilities: our brewpub and music hall on Bloor St. W., and our production facility and Tavern in Kensington Market. We make exceptional, highly drinkable beers—from crispy lagers and pale ales to wine-inspired hybrids and barrel-aged blends. We’re a small team driven by quality and creativity, on a mission to become Ontario’s best small brewery producing under 50K hL annually.

We’re looking for a Head of Production to help lead our next phase of growth.

About the Role

The Head of Production is a senior leadership role responsible for all aspects of brewery operations—from brewing and packaging to quality control and inventory management. The ideal candidate is a passionate and detail-driven brewer who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys leading teams, and is excited by the challenge of scaling production without compromising quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations across brewing, cellaring, packaging, and logistics
  • Develop and maintain weekly, monthly, and annual production schedules in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Oversee and enhance our QC/QA program to ensure product freshness and excellence
  • Lead and improve our equipment maintenance program
  • Manage procurement and inventory of brewing and packaging materials
  • Brew on both our 40hL 3-vessel semi-automated brewhouse and 10hL 2-vessel manual brewhouse
  • Maintain inventory flow across the production facility, taproom, and external warehouse
  • Support the development and growth of our production team
  • Track and report on production KPIs and metrics
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of our cellar and barrel-aging programs

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in brewery production (including brewing, packaging, CIP, and cellaring/blending)
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong understanding of QC/QA principles and best practices
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with inventory and supply chain management
  • Comfortable operating a forklift and driving a commercial vehicle (16ft+ box truck)
  • Bonus: Experience with mixed-fermentation or wine-inspired beer styles
