We are currently looking for Direct Support Workers to join our team in Saskatoon where we operate group homes providing holistic support to adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Support for the people living in Eden Care:

  • Be a part of a support circle that helps residents and their families to identify daily care needs
  • Be a part of an interdisciplinary team that provides the necessary supports for individuals to thrive in their daily lives. This will include activities like assistance with hygiene needs, support with eating, helping with prescribed therapies, et cetera
  • Practice observation skills as you monitor residents' progress toward their personal goals
  • Assist people to take their medications as needed
  • Assist residents to fully engage with the wider community through recreational opportunities, community events and accessing community resources

Indirect Support Tasks:

  • Keep accurate records about important events and processes in the resident's lives
  • Assist the residents with managing their home. This will include some cleaning, food preparation, shopping, decorating, light yard work, etc.
  • Assist the residents with planning for and preparing delicious and nutritious meals
  • Work with equipment needed for support. This includes medical devices (blood sugar monitoring, blood pressure cuffs, oxygen monitors, oxygen tanks, etc.). This also includes mechanical lifts, agency vehicles and household appliances

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 completion required
  • Full Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's Licence required (not a Novice 1 or Novice 2) and submission of Driving Abstract
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search required

Preferred Qualifications (if you don't have these yet we can train you):

  • Transfers, Lifts, and Repositioning (TLR)
  • Professional Assault Response Training (PART)
  • Comprehensive Personal Planning and Support (CPP and SP)
  • Food Safe
  • MedAssist
  • WHIMIS

We also value any training and education in support services such as the Disability Support Worker diploma or the Personal Support Worker diploma or other related programs.

Typical shifts: Monday to Friday

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
