<h3>Position Overview</h3>
<p>Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.</p>
<h3>Main Function</h3>
<p>To provide a safe environment for all patients and staff through the application of approved engineering concepts and repair methods relative to systems used in patient care areas.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<p>The Biomedical Engineering Technologist is responsible for daily technical support activities related to equipment and devices used within the clinical, allied health, and/or support service departments to which they are assigned. The major responsibility is ensuring that all complex medical devices used are maintained at a high degree of efficiency to ensure effective, safe care of the patient and safe use for the operator.</p>
<h3>Experience</h3>
<ul>
<li>Prior experience directly related to Clinical or Biomedical Engineering preferred.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)</h3>
<ul>
<li>Graduation from an Electronics Technology or specific Biomedical Engineering Technology program from an accredited education institution required.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Certification/Licensure/Registration</h3>
<ul>
<li>Registration with CTTAM (Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba Inc.) required.</li>
<li>Registration as student, technician, or provisional technologist member may be considered.</li>
<li>Must have, or obtain within six months of completion of experience eligibility requirement, certification as an Engineering Technologist by CTTAM (Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba Inc.).</li>
<li>Certification as a Certified Biomedical Engineering Technologist (CBET(c)) with The Canadian Board of Examiners for Biomedical Engineering Technologists and Technicians would be an asset.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications And Skills</h3>
<ul>
<li>Working knowledge of plumbing, hydraulics and/or electronic installations is an asset.</li>
<li>The position requires knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.</li>
<li>Good English communication skills, both written and oral.</li>
<li>Good interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Strong organizational and time management skills, a customer service focus, and the ability to grasp concepts quickly.</li>
<li>Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently and as part of a team.</li>
<li>Ability to work under pressure and make decisions using sound judgement.</li>
<li>Proficiency in PC use and office productivity software (word processor, spreadsheet, database).</li>
<li>LEADS in a Caring Environment framework familiarity is preferred.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Physical Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Walking long distances, standing for extended periods, and lifting equipment or supplies (approximately 25 kg).</li>
<li>Manual dexterity and normal vision, with or without correction, for handling small delicate instrumentation.</li>
<li>Potential exposure to solvents and chemicals used in electronic maintenance.</li>
<li>May be required to travel within the service area; valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle may be required.</li>
</ul>
