<p>Job Summary<br><br>AZ/DZ Driver (Salt/Sander Driver) — Snow & Ice (Seasonal)</p><p>Company: PT Landscaping<br><br>Location: Orillia ON<br><br>Season: October–April (on-call, weather dependent)<br><br>Employment Type: Seasonal employee (event-based)<br><br>Compensation: DZ: $28–$32/hr <br>• AZ: $28–$32/hr (experience, tickets)<br><br>Expected Hours: Quiet weeks 0; active weeks 20–40+ hrs during events. Typical storm shifts 6–12 hrs, major events up to 16 hrs.</p><p>Role Summary</p><p>Operate salt and sand trucks (AZ/DZ) to de-ice parking lots, roads, and walkways according to route standards and application targets. You'll run overnight in winter conditions, coordinate with dispatch and plow/loader teams, and complete accurate logs and load tickets.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Pre-/Post-Trip & Safety: Full inspections (fluids/tires/lights/DEF), air-brake checks, hopper/spinner/brine system tests; document defects.</li><li>Calibrate and apply granular (salt/salt-sand) to target lbs/acre.</li><li>Adjust spinner pattern to site layout; avoid overspread to sidewalks/doors/landscaping.</li><li>Routing & Timing: Follow app/dispatch sequence, meet service windows after triggers or per contract.</li><li>Loading & Yard Ops: Safe loading from bins, scale slips/load tickets, keep loading zone clean.</li><li>Site Quality: Treat hills, entrances, crosswalks, fire routes, and high-traffic zones first; re-treat as directed.</li><li>Records & Comms: Start/stop times, materials used (tonnes/L), photos, notes, and incident reports in the app; radio discipline.</li><li>Equipment Care: Grease chains/bearings, clear bridges/guards, wash-down post-event, report maintenance needs.</li></ul><p>Qualifications</p><ul><li>Valid AZ or DZ License; clean driver's abstract (minimum 3 years).</li><li>Experience: 1+ winter season with salter truck or strong heavy/commercial driving background.</li><li>Ability to work overnights, weekends, holidays on short notice.</li><li>Confident backing and tight-area maneuvering; comfortable using a smartphone for routes/photos.</li><li>Reliable transportation to yard; able to work outdoors and climb into trucks repeatedly.</li></ul><p>Assets</p><ul><li>Loader/skid ticket (to self-load).</li><li>WHMIS, First Aid/CPR.</li><li>Basic calibration knowledge.</li></ul><p>How to Apply</p><p>Email with subject "AZ/DZ Ice Control Driver – Snow".
