Biovectra is a leader in Contract Development and Manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, specializing in microbial fermentation, synthetic small molecules, ADC, HPAPI, plasmid DNA, mRNA, LNP, and sterile filling. With over 650 employees across Nova Scotia and PEI, supporting top pharma and biotech clients.

Reporting to the VP of Business Unit Biovectra, the AVP of Engineering and Maintenance oversees strategic and operational aspects of engineering and maintenance across 8 facilities in Nova Scotia and PEI, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engineering and maintenance strategies aligned with operational goals.
  • Lead a team of 7 managers and 100 support staff to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Oversee capital projects, renovations, and upgrades, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, documentation, change controls, and training; represent departments during audits.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, leadership, and performance management.
  • Engage effectively with senior executives and stakeholders.
  • Manage manufacturing technology teams and collaborate with IT on program direction.
  • Oversee equipment commissioning, qualification, and requalification.

This is an onsite role based at our Prince Edward Island or Windsor, Nova Scotia site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
  • 10+ years in facilities management, with 5+ years in leadership within life sciences or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of building operations, systems, and commissioning; strong management and communication skills.

Preferred Attributes

  • Knowledge of BMS systems and healthcare facility experience.
  • Innovation, sustainability, and familiarity with LEED standards and new technologies.

Additional Details



Full-time, with a salary range of $187,272 – $292,613 CAD/year plus bonus, stock, and benefits. Pay is role, level, location-dependent. More info at https://careers.agilent.com/locations.


This job has a full-time weekly schedule. Occasional travel required. Day shift. No end date specified.
