What is the Opportunity?



We have an exciting opportunity to join the Credit Risk Review (CRR) team, where you will play a critical role in providing independent and objective evaluations of retail credit risk management practices at RBC Bank in the United States. This role supports the development and implementation of the CRR coverage strategy for RBC Bank. Your work will help ensure the effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls, credit risk ratings, and corporate governance processes. Key stakeholders include 1st and 2nd line of defense bankers, senior leadership, regulators, auditors, and the U.S. Risk Committee.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting Target Reviews, Continuous Monitoring Reviews, Risk Assessments, and other ad hoc credit projects.

What Will You Do?

Credit Risk Review Practice

  • Participate in the execution of CRR reviews of RBC Bank’s retail lending portfolio, including mortgages, home equity lines of credit, and credit cards.
  • Evaluate risk rating accuracy, underwriting and portfolio management practices, compliance with regulatory guidance, and RBC policies and procedures.
  • Execute the risk-based annual plan in collaboration with CRR leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Review borrower, portfolio, and product-specific credit risks, identify remediation actions, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Conduct risk assessments, monitor emerging risks, and industry trends impacting retail lending.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to risk frameworks, governance, and internal processes.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders for risk identification, documentation, and resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage data and analytics to monitor the portfolio and enhance CRR processes.
  • Collaborate with credit risk stakeholders across all three lines of defense.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • 7+ years of experience in retail credit in underwriting, adjudication, credit risk review, credit audit, consulting, or regulatory roles.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. regulatory guidance and retail lending products.
  • Strong negotiation, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accept accountability, demonstrate leadership, show initiative, and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Graduate degree (e.g., MBA, MSc in Finance or Economics).
  • Regulatory background in supervision and regulation related to retail lending.
