Position Summary
The Assistant Manager, FP&A will lead the planning and analysis function for our Canadian operation to deliver flexible, accurate, and timely forward-looking financial information, insights and metrics. The key deliverables include the preparation, optimization, and monitoring of the Long Range Plan, Annual Operating Plan, monthly/quarterly forecasts, management presentations, variance analysis, and analytical support for key initiatives.
This role requires working collaboratively with cross-functional teams locally and internationally as a key business partner who guides and manages the planning processes to deliver the objectives set by the senior leadership team in alignment with company strategy.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead and collaborate with business leaders to develop the long-range plan, annual operating plan and monthly/quarterly forecasts for both GAAP and non-GAAP profitability and cashflows
- Prepare executive-level financial summary presentations to support business needs and lead presentations on behalf of the Canadian entity
- Monitor financial performance against budget and forecasts, identify trends and provide actionable recommendations for cost optimization and revenue growth
- Continuously enhance the planning and analysis function by developing new models, refining existing ones, creating interactive dashboards, and automating reporting processes using tools like Oracle and Tableau to drive efficiency and insights
- Prepare analyses and business cases to support key investments and transformation initiatives that balances top line, margin/EBITDA improvement vs. investing for the future e.g. localization, R&D, M&A, pricing of material contracts, ROI analyses
- Gather and analyze information on prospective and new business opportunities to evaluate their impact on forecasts and plans.
Provide recommendations on margin optimization, alignment into the broader financial strategy, and solutions for incorporation into existing process flows - Provide strategic insight to support business growth (top line growth, margin improvement, AEBITDA and cash flow), developing and monitoring KPIs that further business objectives, and preparing financial scenario analysis
- Identify areas for process improvement within the organization, streamline procedures, and create scalable processes
- Collaborate with others within the organization to identify and implement financial systems and tools that enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency
- Coach and develop other finance team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Skill Requirements/Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; MBA or CPA designation preferred
- 5-8 years of relevant experience, with 2-3 years of experience at a Big Four firm (expertise in US GAAP and SOX) is preferred
- Self-starter who enjoys working autonomously, manage multiple priorities, comfortable with ambiguity and poised under pressure
- Proven experience improving financial and reporting processes
- Strong team player with a passion for process optimization and implementation of IT solutions to drive efficiency
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with the ability to synthesize data, identify root cause, and tell the story behind the numbers
- Proficient in Excel (advanced formulas), accounting software (Oracle Smartview), and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Alteryx, Salesforce, Workday, Concur and other systems a plus
