Job Description

<p><h3>Overview</h3>
<p>X-Ray Technologist - TGH Imaging Parsons - (250003KN)</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Verifies that the prescription matches the procedure to be performed and records all reasons for the exam, including signs and symptoms.</li>
<li>Explains procedures to the patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.</li>
<li>Positions the patient on the examining table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the specified area requested by the physician.</li>
<li>Moves DEXA and EKG equipment into the specified position and adjusts controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.</li>
<li>Processes images and examines them for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.</li>
<li>Verifies that the patient’s exam corresponds to the ordered exam in PACS; makes changes in billing codes/exam titles as needed.</li>
<li>Present prior studies alongside current studies to the radiologist for diagnostic assessment.</li>
<li>Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.</li>
<li>Stock/Order supplies, check machines for problems, perform equipment quality control as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.</li>
<li>All other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li>
<li>Current and valid Florida State License (BMO).</li>
<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (CPR).</li>
<li>Knowledge and skill performing DEXA and/or EKG procedures and protocols.</li>
<li>Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform mammography testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.</li>
<li>Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.</li>
<li>Knowledge of customer service concepts and clinic policies including safety, privacy and HIPAA regulations.</li>
<li>Knowledge of safety requirements for staff, patients and visitors.</li>
<li>Skill in positioning patients properly.</li>
<li>Skill in using computer network systems to process patient and department information.</li>
<li>Skill in performing quality exams and exercising compassion with patients.</li>
<li>Skill in completing job functions in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians and other staff.</li>
<li>Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and management.</li>
