What's more, we also have multiple locations and offer flexible working and shorter working weeks than most organizations.</p><p><br><br></p><p>Summary: </p><p>Provide a combination of services encouraging clients to identify and express their health needs, teaching about health literacy, and facilitating conversations with healthcare providers, which may involve advocacy.</p><p></p><p>How You Will Make a Difference:</p><ul><li>Individualized coaching and support in accessing other health services (e.g. assistance making appointments, Life Labs), assistance with applications, warm referrals to other Public Health Authorities or health providers.</li><li>Liaise with Settlement and Settlement Case Management staff, referring and connecting clients to health, social, and settlement services.</li><li>Providing information about B.C. health services and about the Interim Federal Health Program, if relevant, as well as navigating to information on how to apply for provincial health coverage.</li><li>Providing information on the roles of various health care providers.</li><li>Engaging in community outreach and building connections with local health services providers.</li><li>Assist in the settlement process based on assessed needs through referral to community connections such as: Canadian culture/basis norms of conduct; public services; community resources including legal, school, medical care and social service systems; how to access services and the responsibilities of immigrants and refugees as beneficiaries of these services and systems. Arrange for the provision of interpretation services as required. May also be referred to Client Integration Specialist and Case Management programs as required.</li><li>Enter client information and service interventions into centralized database as client service occurs. Provide narrative into reports as required.</li><li>Perform service bridging by serving as a resource to clients and staff of external agencies regarding cultural interpretation on issues, client needs and related projects and services.</li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>What You Bring:</p><ul><li>Diploma in Social Sciences, counselling or a related discipline and a minimum of one (1) to (2) years of experience in an immigrant service or related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.</li><li>Tigrinya or other languages are considered an asset.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>What Makes You a Change Maker:</p><ul><li>Demonstrated ability to identify and assess the assets and needs of clients and community members, informing tailored interventions and support services.</li><li>Solid understanding of diverse cultural and traditional health practices and beliefs, facilitating culturally sensitive and responsive care delivery.</li><li>Demonstrated experience delivering trauma-informed and culturally competent care, including provisions for language access to ensure effective communication with diverse refugee populations.</li><li>Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment</li><li>Critical thinking skills: the ability to process and organize facts, data and other information to define a problem and develop effective solutions</li><li>Possession of and the ability to maintain a clear provincial Criminal Record Check.</li></ul><p></p><p>ISSofBC Value Proposition </p><ul><li>Expected Hiring Salary: $24.62 - $27.91 per hour. Dependent on education, training, experience, and internal equity. Wage grids are reviewed annually.
