Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) currently has an exciting opportunity for a warehouse leader to support our Western Canada Parts Distribution Centre (WCPDC). This role is a full-time position on our afternoon shift (1:30 – 10PM), residing in our Richmond facility and reporting to the PM Operations Manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting and motivating the warehouse team members to meet order demands and increase efficiencies.

What You’ll be Doing:
Leadership & People Development
Supervises and directs warehouse team members in daily activities; places team member and visitor safety as the top priority

Conducts process observations and documentation to ensure safety and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) compliance in daily operations


Support the ongoing learning and development of team members by providing direct feedback, coaching, mentoring, career path guidance, and addressing performance concerns

Provide team members with recognition, gap assessment, and overall performance documentation to support and reinforce career and personal growth

Coach and develop team members in the use and understanding of Toyota Business Practices (TBP) to develop skills for problem solving

Accountable for Health & Safety under provincial and federal acts and abide by and enforce facility and/or regulated safety rules for all at the facility


Communication
Update Facility Management Development System (FMDS) boards daily

Present FMDS data in daily huddles to drive team member engagement and curiosity toward problem-solving initiatives

Manage process control boards and Kanban stations with team member support

Connect with individuals daily to ask, “How’s your process?”


Listen to team members for operational feedback; create ownership of problems and support resolutions

Use and present TBPs to team members for understanding of current kaizen activities

Continuous Improvement Activities
Promote safety activities to reduce overall incidents throughout the facility

Analyze work motions and review standardized work to ensure quality and productivity


Create work combinations, offer proposals on how many workers are required per shift and what their positions would be

Identify what is Overburden (Muri), Unevenness (Mura), Waste (Muda), and implement improvements (kaizen)

Demonstrate continuous improvement and be able to share and teach this skill

Support leadership in major projects


Use Toyota Business Practices (TBP) problem solving tools to address root causes and develop countermeasures

Manage small to medium process improvements through data analytics, TBP, or other practical problem-solving processes

Track the progress of all continuous improvement (Kaizen) activities within your team

Use appropriate strategies and actions to overcome resistance to change and capitalize on those in support of change during all stages of Kaizen – Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA)


Operations Support
Support and document safety orientations for team members, facility trades, and business partners on site as needed

Ensure facility 5-S standard ownership and maintenance

Manage shift time and attendance

Assist facility annual cycle count process completion


Coordinate the development, updating, and maintenance of SOPs and user guides for your team, shift, or facility

What You’ll Bring:
High school diploma required

University degree or College diploma in a related discipline preferred

5 + years’ experience in a warehouse setting


Previous supervisory experience is an asset

Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop teams

Strong analytical skills and a high degree of personal initiative with a proven methodology for problem solving

Experience in coordinating and monitoring project processes and developing and communicating guidelines and procedures


Excellent communicator with the ability to prioritize issues and risks to senior leaders

Strong capability to work with individuals at all levels in and outside the organization and harmoniously within a team environment

Proven ability to initiate and improve work processes to increase safety, quality, and efficiency

Strong digital proficiency, including MS Excel and MS Access required; Power BI, and dashboard creation is an asset
