The Opportunity
We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on VP of Finance / Controller to lead financial operations across our group of businesses. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic leadership team in a company poised for future growth. You’ll lead the financial function across multiple entities, streamline processes, and ensure we have strong financial controls and insights to drive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Financial Operations Across All Brands Centralize and oversee all financial activities across three business entities, ensuring alignment and efficiency in accounting, budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Leadership
Lead the annual budgeting process across all entities, aligning departmental budgets with strategic goals. Drive rolling forecasts and scenario planning to anticipate business needs and risks
  • Ensure Accurate, Timely Reporting Deliver monthly, quarterly, and year-end financials, including consolidated reports and individual entity performance. Customize reporting to meet operational and executive needs.
  • Manage Cash Flow and Working Capital Monitor cash daily, manage intercompany transfers, and ensure adequate liquidity to support projects and supplier obligations.
  • Drive Job Costing & Project Profitability Analyze project-level profitability, track budget vs. actuals, and collaborate with operations to identify cost savings and margin improvements.
  • Capital Planning and Financing
Evaluate and manage financing options for equipment, real estate, or business expansion. Lead capital structure planning and liaise with lenders for credit facilities or refinancing needs.
  • Implement Strong Financial Controls Establish internal controls to mitigate risk, prevent fraud, and ensure accuracy—particularly in procurement, payables, and intercompany transactions.
  • Serve as Liaison to External Stakeholders Coordinate with auditors, bankers, and tax advisors; manage annual audits, oversee tax compliance, and support financing needs.
  • Provide Strategic Financial Guidance Partner with leadership to support business planning, financial modeling, and ROI analysis on major capital investments and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and Lead the Finance Team Mentor and build a high-performing finance and accounting team that can scale with the company. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and care. Play a key role in preserving the company’s family-centric values while leading change and growth initiatives. Help shape company culture through leadership presence, employee engagement, and transparent communication.
  • KPI Development and Business Insights
Define and monitor key financial and operational KPIs.
Provide dashboards and insights that empower the leadership team to make data-driven decisions.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 10+ years in senior finance roles with experience in construction, design-build, or project-based industries. Multi-entity experience is an asset.
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading teams and building scalable finance operations. Ability to navigate both strategic planning and day-to-day execution.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong command of job costing, project accounting, financial modeling, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Cultural Fit: A values-driven leader who appreciates the importance of relationships, collaboration, and contributing to a positive, people-first workplace.
  • Systems Savvy: Comfortable implementing or enhancing ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools. Experience with Quickbooks online.

Compensation:
  • $175,000 - $200,000 annual base salary
  • Bonus: no formal plan; discretionary
  • Benefits – 50% employee co-pay
