Job Description
As a Translator with Sonovision Canada, you will join an energetic team of translation professionals, passionate about the work they do. As part of the translation team, you will be an essential contributing member by translating a variety of documents from English to French, reviewing the work of co-workers and working together to deliver documentation of the highest quality that customers of Sonovision have come to expect.
Typical Duties
- Read through material in English, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and convert it into French, making sure to preserve the original meaning
- Consult with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specialised concepts and translate them appropriately
- Refer to online translation tools for additional assistance with translation
- Use highly specialised translation software to encourage efficiency and consistency
- Adhere to industry quality standards ensure that all completed work meets customer requirements
- Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation
- Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
- Follow up with internal team members to ensure translation meets their needs
- Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure)
- Administrative support to team lead.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in translating technical documents from English to French
- Must possess a university degree or college diploma, translation preferred
- Must have experience using computer-assisted translation software, Trados preferred
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Aptitude and interest to learn and develop
Assets
- Experience in the Aerospace or Defense Industry
- accreditation with OTTIAQ or ATIO or another similar association
