Technical Program Manager

  • Full Time
  • Brampton

Soneil Spark

Location: Brampton In-Person

Department: R&D and Engineering

About the Role

Soneil Spark is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support the R&D and Engineering teams as we scale our EV charging solutions. This role will bridge the gap between R&D and Engineering, ensuring smooth project execution, efficient collaboration, and structured workflows.

The TPM will take over program management responsibilities, allowing the R&D team to focus on innovation while ensuring operational efficiency, accountability, and project execution. This is a critical role for maintaining alignment between teams and driving projects forward.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

Program & Project Management

  • Own end-to-end project planning, execution, and tracking for R&D and Engineering projects.
  • Define timelines, milestones, and deliverables while coordinating across teams.
  • Implement and maintain agile workflows (e.g., sprint planning, backlog prioritization).
  • Identify risks, remove roadblocks, and proactively resolve dependencies between teams.

2. R&D and Engineering Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between R&D and Engineering, ensuring clear handoffs and project transitions.
  • Ensure that R&D’s work is well-documented and properly transitioned to Engineering for certification, production, and post-market support.
  • Reduce redundant meetings by facilitating structured updates and async communication.
  • Establish and manage a centralized project documentation repository for shared access.

3. Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency

  • Work with the R&D team to implement structured R&D workflows (e.g., feasibility → prototyping → validation → engineering handoff).
  • Establish clear role definitions for R&D vs.

    Engineering to eliminate task confusion.
  • Optimize internal procurement, costing, and component tracking workflows to reduce repetitive requests.

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Finance, Product, and Manufacturing teams to align priorities and resources.
  • Support hiring efforts by onboarding and integrating new hardware/firmware engineers once they are hired.
  • Ensure Engineering gets the necessary technical documentation, BOMs, and design files from R&D.

5. Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

  • Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and key decisions to leadership.
  • Drive alignment on prioritization of projects to prevent resource overload.
  • Maintain dashboards, reports, and tracking tools (e.g., ClickUp, Jira, Confluence).

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly organized and technically fluent TPM who understands both hardware and software development cycles.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program/project management in a hardware or EV-related industry.
  • Strong understanding of hardware, firmware, and product development lifecycles.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, R&D projects, and Engineering handoffs.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies, sprints, and workflow tools (ClickUp, Jira, Confluence, or similar).
  • Ability to streamline processes, improve documentation, and enhance collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills to align teams, resolve conflicts, and drive accountability.
  • Bonus: Experience working in startups or high-growth tech environments.
