Why is this role important:
The Technical Designer is responsible for implementing Design’s creative vision and Joe Fresh’s customer expectations through the fit, construction, and quality of our products. This involves solid pattern making, manufacturing knowledge, and proactive communication with internal teams and external vendors.
What you’ll do:
- Manage workflow and ensure seasonal deadlines are met using PLM, Fit Agenda, and other tools; follow up on fit sample status with factories.
- Participate in departmental and cross-departmental meetings.
- Understand and deliver on the Corporate Calendar process and deliverables.
- Collaborate with Design to translate creative vision into product, ensuring fit, fabrication, and design details meet customer expectations.
- Proactively recommend solutions to meet design, fit, quality, timeline, and cost goals.
- Apply Joe Fresh’s Fit Classifications and Pattern Blocks for fit consistency.
- Understand fit model measurements, grading standards, and manage exceptions.
- Follow the Joe Fresh Measurement Manual and Garment Construction Standards.
- Ensure garment fit and construction consistency within the product category.
- Implement design and fit into bulk production, maintaining standards.
- Communicate sample requirements and style revisions to factories.
- Evaluate samples for compliance with measurements, construction, and fit.
- Identify and address fit, quality, and production issues, recommending solutions.
- Lead fittings on live models and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve design vision.
- Ensure external patterns meet design and fit standards where appropriate.
- Engage with business partners when issues arise, providing viable solutions.
- Collaborate with QA to prevent quality issues.
- Manage style approval files including final patterns and tech packs.
- Promote a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging.
What you bring:
- Highly organized with multitasking ability.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Experience with Pattern Making Software (Lectra, Gerber).
- Knowledge of 3D Design software (CLO).
- Familiarity with PLM software.
- Detail-oriented and adaptable to a dynamic environment.
