We are hiring for the following two positions:


  1. Regular Part-time, 30 hrs/week
  2. Temporary Part-time, 30 hrs/week – 12 month contract

Job Summary:

Provides speech and language services including assessment and treatment to children under 5 years of age with the aim of normalizing or enhancing the child’s communication.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Performs formal or informal assessments.
  2. Recheck/reassess as per program protocols.
  3. Provide regular, direct (group or individual) therapy.
  4. Demonstration of key aspects of treatment.
  5. Follow-up with families as required to implement, review, update or alter the treatment plan.
  6. Prepare treatment summaries and progress reports.
  7. Prepare discharge summary and consultation with appropriate parties.
  8. Initiate and follow-up transition process as required.
  9. Direct the work of the Communicative Disorders Assistant.
  10. Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of treatment, education, and health promotion programs and services for individuals, families, and the community.
  11. Schedule clients.
  12. Forwards appropriate post-encounter information to First Words program.
  13. SLPs in bilingual positions are expected to work in both official languages, the volume of which may fluctuate from time to time – i.e. more Francophone clients than Anglophone.


Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent.
  2. Experience working with the preschool population.
  3. Current CASLPO registration.
  4. Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred.
  5. Successful completion of HANEN, It Takes Two to Talk and/or More Than Words trainings preferred.
