Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated SolidWorks Designer to join our engineering team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D modeling, mechanical design, and a passion for creating efficient and precise designs. The SolidWorks Designer will collaborate with other team members to design, model, and refine components and assemblies for various engineering projects, with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and how designs translate to production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks software.
  • Develop detailed technical drawings and specifications for product designs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure design requirements meet customer and project specifications.
  • Conduct design reviews and collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production.
  • Perform calculations and simulations (e.g., stress, motion, thermal) to ensure design feasibility and safety.
  • Update and revise design documents as necessary, ensuring all design changes are well-documented and communicated.
  • Assist in the preparation of product prototypes, including testing and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in design work.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date design database.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by proposing design improvements and efficiencies.
  • Understand and apply manufacturing processes and constraints to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience with SolidWorks (3+ years preferred).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, drafting, and tolerances.
  • Experience with 3D modeling, assemblies, and sheet metal design.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
  • Must have a solid understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, stamping, etc.) and how designs translate to production.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools within SolidWorks (e.g., FEA, motion analysis) is a plus.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with other CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, CATIA) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in creating technical documentation and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, ASME).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
