Salary: $145k - $200k year
About the Opportunity
Our client is a progressive, full-service consulting firm operating across Canada with a growing reputation in environmental, natural resource, and infrastructure services. They are currently expanding their Geo-Hydro group and are seeking a seasoned Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their team, working on hydrotechnical and dam‐related initiatives nationwide.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and support dam-safety reviews and assessments for a variety of projects.
- Carry out hydrologic and hydraulic analyses (e.g., watershed modelling, flood plain mapping, flow simulation).
- Design and review civil and hydraulic infrastructure: weirs, culverts, channels, erosion protection, detention/storage ponds.
- Oversee projects from initial proposal stage through to detailed design and construction completion.
- Produce engineering documentation: technical reports, design drawings, memos.
- Engage with clients, regulatory agencies and other key stakeholders to facilitate project delivery.
- Mentor and support junior professionals within the Geo-Hydro team.
- Conduct field work, site investigations and inspections as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering (Master’s is an asset).
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in water resources, hydrotechnical or dam engineering.
- Registered (or eligible) as a Professional Engineer (e.g., P.Eng.) in British Columbia (or equivalent).
- Strong competence in hydrologic/hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-7, SWMM, FLO-2D, HYFRANS).
- Demonstrated project management experience, juggling multiple deliverables and adhering to schedules.
- Technical proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication ability.
- Strong analytical, organizational and time-management skills.
- A collaborative approach, able to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5 or equivalent) and clean driving record.
- Familiarity with dam-safety guidelines, bulletins and provincial regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with environmental permitting, legislation and regulatory processes.
- Track record of business development or client relationship management.
- Experience taking engineering projects fully through to construction phase.
