<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Senior Project Manager - Energy, Coquitlam, BC</p><p>Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Senior Project Manager with electrical expertise to join our Electrical team in Coquitlam, BC, and help grow Intertek's Energy business in North America. Our purpose: Bringing quality, safety, and sustainability to life.</p><p>The Electrical team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification for a variety of electric products, including appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, information communications technology, HVACR, industrial, and energy transmission and distribution. Our professionals help ensure the quality, safety, and sustainability of electrical products used globally.</p><h3>What we’re looking for</h3><p>The Senior Project Manager - Energy will perform testing, inspection, and certification of projects in North America. This role is responsible for independently performing testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. The Senior Project Manager role also provides local expertise in one or more product categories and mentors/trains other personnel. Applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in Canada.</p><h3>Salary & Benefits Information</h3><p>The base wage range for this position is $100K - $140K. Individual compensation packages are based on factors including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Intertek offers salary and benefits competitive within the local market, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, RRSP with company match, generous vacation/sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, and more.</p><h3>What you’ll do</h3><ul><li>Independently conduct on- and off-site testing and evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standards.</li><li>Validate the project scope and sample applicability.</li><li>Develop, set up, and follow established test plans, performing all required testing of products per identified standards and test plans.</li><li>Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the equipment under test (EUT).</li><li>Conduct thorough Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) and construction reviews; compile and document results.</li><li>Perform field labeling jobs.</li><li>Mentor personnel.</li><li>Provide ongoing support and guidance on technical issues, test procedures, and standards interpretations.</li><li>Research new standards, technologies, and trends in the industry.</li><li>Represent Intertek on technical committees, code panels and/or associations.</li><li>Provide ongoing sales support, including client meetings, project scoping and quoting.</li><li>Communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.</li><li>Within policy guidelines, identify, document, and recommend engineering judgments.</li><li>Perform other work as required.</li><li>Demonstrate sufficient product and/or standards knowledge to be considered an expert in multiple product categories for the local office.</li></ul><p>This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The role assumes the incumbent has the mental and physical ability to perform the defined duties.</p><h3>Minimum Requirements & Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor of Science, Technology, or similar degree (preferred), or equivalent education/experience (10+ years).</li><li>7+ years of direct regulatory and compliance experience, specifically dealing with the NRTL and certification process.</li><li>Prior project management experience.</li><li>Advanced experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards (e.g., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC).</li><li>Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025).</li><li>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.</li><li>Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently where standardization is limited.</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.</li><li>Detail-oriented with effective time management and workload prioritization.</li><li>Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.</li><li>Fundamental technical and administrative skills to perform the job duties.</li><li>Customer-focused and quality-driven.</li><li>Travel up to 50% as business dictates.</li><li>A valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.</li><li>Applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in Canada.</li></ul><h3>Preferred Requirements & Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Familiar with UL 1998, UL 991, and/or UL 60730.</li><li>Familiar with UL 1741 and other utility-interactive inverters and/or power conversion equipment.</li><li>Familiarity with other product standards (e.g., UL/CSA 61010) is an asset.</li><li>Experience with standards such as UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 508A, etc.</li></ul><p>This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details.</p><h3>Intertek’s Commitment</h3><p>Intertek is a world leader in the Quality Assurance market, with a proven, high-quality business model and a global network of customer-focused operations and subject matter experts.
