Employing over 100 employees, our skilled trades, engineering expertise, professionalism, project management experience and in-house capabilities make us the preferred choice for global engineered material handling solutions for the underground and surface mining, heavy construction, electrical power transmission and distribution, marine and offshore oil & gas sectors.For more information on our project and services, please visit our website.Join our 75-year legacy of building global infrastructure – Click here to explore our 75th anniversary videoAbout the OpportunityCurrently, we are seeking a full-time Senior Design Engineer to join our team in Woodstock, Ontario.As our new Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing all project elements: design, schedule, resources, and customer design expectations.Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:Preparing a kit of information for Designers to complete layout and production drawings in an efficient and accurate manner (including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical designers)Providing preliminary engineering calculations, specifications, sketches, and layouts as required by sales to estimate a machine that meets customer inquiriesEmploying fundamental mechanical engineering principles through manual calculationsReviewing engineering drawings, analyzing design, and retrieving information to complete drawings, layouts, or designsEnsuring all drawings are being checked for design and dimensional correctness prior to release for productionAiding in the resolution of external customer problems of a technical natureResponding to questions/problems from factory personnel as they are being encountered during fabrication and assembly of machinesEvaluating customers’ specifications, conceptualizing designs and guiding Designers throughout the projectDelegating your team of Designers with a focus on priority projectsTroubleshooting issues in real-time and actively taking action to address and resolve problems as they ariseParticipating in the testing and commissioning of new equipmentEngaging in real hard-core engineering every day, as no design is ever the sameSeeing the products you designed being manufactured and tested in the buildingPerforming hand calculations, for example stress analysisLead engineering on projects from concept to commissioningAbout YouTo qualify, you must have at least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience as an engineer, ideally with heavy equipment.To succeed in this role, you will also need:Post-secondary education in engineering, ideally mechanical engineeringA P.Eng License in the province of OntarioPrevious design engineering experience in a heavy equipment manufacturing environmentExperience leading a team with a positive and encouraging approachAbility to share your knowledge while being humble and passionate about learning new thingsDetailed technical knowledge in mechanical systems and machine buildingWillingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, to support equipment at customers’ sites during commissioning, etc.Strong leadership and coaching experienceAbout the BenefitsAs a valued member of our team, you will be awarded a $100K salary range evaluated on knowledge, skills, and experience, plus:Comprehensive Benefits Plan: life insurance, long-term disability, dental, extended health coverage, vision coverage and an Employee Assistance programCompetitive pension plan with company matchPaid days for sick and personal leaveSocial events and activitiesEnjoy the freedom of 5 flexible/floater days offA chance to contribute to an organization at the forefront of the world’s most exciting engineering projectsAre you ready to hoist your career to new heights with a global industry leader?.
