Job Title: Senior AWS ETL Developer

Contract Length: 6 months

Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybird work environment, coming into office twice a week)


Pay Rate: $75-$87/Hr (T4), $90-$104/Hr (INC)

AWS ETL Developer job description

We are looking for an experienced ETL developer that is seasoned in both the AWS suite of development tools and as a SQL Server Developer to handle database creation and load activities!. As AWS Cloud developer you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of the AWS cloud environment and the SQL server configurations within it



Duties and responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing best practices for AWS applications.
  • Create ETL jobs to ingest and move data within the AWS environment using Glue
  • Automation scripting within the environment using either Glue or CloudWatch
  • Manage SQL Server databases
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes
  • Monitor system’s health and performance
  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security
  • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time
  • Provide suggestions for solutions
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement
  • Provide support for critical production systems
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours

SQL Server Developer requirements and qualifications

  • AWS Cloud Experience
  • Experience with Cloud Services such as EMR, Lamba, Glue
  • Experience with python and pyspark.
  • Experience as a SQL Server developer or similar role, and familiar with T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, PowerShell, C# .NET.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Exposure and understanding of DevOps/Continuous Integration (CI) tools and practices. This includes tools such as GIT and bitbucket.
  • Strong expertise with one of the following: CDK or CloudFormation
  • Experience with Windows server, including Active Directory
