We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in the insurance brokerage industry. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial management and compliance within our organization. Reporting to the Controller, your responsibilities will include :
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses in compliance with accounting standards (ASPE).
- Provide insights into financial performance.
- Manage and reconcile insurance-specific accounts, including premium receivables and net premium payable.
- Conduct complex reconciliations of premium and general ledger accounts.
- Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate and lead audits by external auditors.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
Requirements :
- At least 3-5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience in the insurance brokerage industry is preferred but not required.
- Experience with QuickBooks.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance accounting principles and statutory regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
