Job Title: Security Analyst

Location: Edmonton (onsite)

The Position:

Our downtown Edmonton client is seeking a permanent or contract to permanent IT Security Analyst to join their team. Reporting to the IT Manager, you will be responsible for protecting their hybrid IT environment consisting primarily of Azure services and promoting a security-first culture across the organization through training, communication, and collaboration. In this onsite position, you will also be required to bring strong technical knowledge and regulatory awareness.


What You'll Do:


Security Operations

  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts, events, and incidents.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and oversee remediation activities.
  • Operate and enhance security services and tools including:
  • Arctic Wolf MSSP
  • Microsoft Purview
  • Proofpoint CASB/DLP
  • Security Awareness Training platforms


Infrastructure & Cloud Security

  • Secure Azure-based services and maintain controls for legacy on-premises systems.
  • Manage and support network security infrastructure:
  • Palo Alto firewalls
  • SD-WAN technologies
  • DNS filtering solutions
  • Ensure secure configuration and access controls across hybrid environments.


Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with OSFI and other Canadian financial regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits through evidence gathering and review.
  • Apply the CIS Controls Framework to guide security practices and maturity.
  • Participate in weekly Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings to provide security feedback on infrastructure and application projects.


Qualifications:


Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in IT security, ideally within the Canadian financial sector. This experience includes network security and hybrid IT environments.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure security (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills as you will be required to conduct training, collaborate with others on work / projects, participate in CAB meetings and additionally communicate and report on incidents etc.
  • Highly resourceful, flexible, and adaptable.


Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with:
  • Arctic Wolf, Microsoft Purview, Proofpoint CASB/DLP
  • Palo Alto firewalls, SD-WAN technologies, DNS filtering
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Vulnerability management and remediation
  • SIEM and endpoint protection tools
  • Regulatory frameworks such as OSFI and CIS Controls


Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200)
  • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
  • Microsoft 365 Security Administrator Associate (MS-500)
