Qualifications
- A minimum 2-year relevant diploma, or equivalent of education/experience working with children and youth with behavioural and complex needs.
Life and parenting experience an asset but not required. Previous experience in a staffed residential setting is a major asset. - Specific training in behavioural modification, children under 12 years of age with support needs, attachment-based parenting, and relationship-based interventions (Training will be provided by Cloverville SHSS).
- Must have or be willing to obtain a First Aid / CPR Level C Certification.
- Class 5 Driver’s License (use of company car provided).
- Basic computer and data entry skills required.
- Must be in good health and be able to provide a fit-to-work certificate from a doctor.
- Must successfully pass background check (conducted by Cloverville SHSS).
- Must have patience and a passion caring for children and youth.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsare essential.
Duties and Expectations
- Ensures the safety and well-being of children and youth in the care setting.
- Actively works to understand children and youth better, gathers information about their needs, and provides ongoing updates to the program manager or residence coordinator.
- Participates in assessments, goal/strategy setting, and program planning for children and youth (where appropriate), while supporting documentation, monitoring, and progress measurement.
- Implements or facilitates strategies outlined in children’s and youth’s SHSS Service Plan.
- Teaches and strengthens children’s and youth’s skills in a socially and culturally appropriate manner through daily routines and activities.
- Provides trauma-informed care (using behavior management, attachment-based, relational, or other evidence-informed modalities) to children and youth on a one-to-one or group basis by offering feedback on behavior, teaching coping techniques and adaptive behavior, and providing guidance and support.
- Provides care for children and youth with mild to exceptional support needs in a staffed-resource setting, including those with behavioral challenges.
- Offers emotional support and crisis intervention, which may include non-violent physical interventions.
- Supports children’s and youth’s community inclusion (e.g., home, school, activities, family, the community).
- Ensures that children’s and youth’s physical needs are met by performing duties such as assisting with basic personal hygiene, preparing meals, and administering medications as required in accordance with established policy, guidelines, procedures and instructions.
- Maintains reports and other documentation such as logbooks, charts, daily activities on residents. This includes data entry using a computer or other technology provided by the company.
- Carries out household duties such as meal preparation and household cleaning.
- Accompanies children and youth to appointments and community outings.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures.
Wages and Benefits
- Wage rate starts at $27.54 and increases up to $31.61 as you accumulate hours

Other Important Details
- Full-time Available Position: Day Shift – 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Sunday to Thursday)
- Full-time Available Position: Evening Shift – 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (Tuesday to Saturday)
- Full-time Available Position: 2-Day/2-Evening shift – (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday & Saturday and 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Sunday & Monday)
- Workplace Location: Abbotsford B.C. (near Rotary Stadium)
- The employment start date will be finalized by early June with a projected start in the 2nd– 3rd week of June 2025.
