Purchasing Supervisor – High-Impact Contract & Strategic Sourcing Focus

Location: Ontario (Flexible – based at one of our partner’s sites)

Project XIII Inc. has partnered with a leading engineering-focused manufacturer of machined castings, fabrications, and assemblies. We’re actively seeking a Purchasing Supervisor, MRO to take charge of strategic procurement across a high-spend, multi-site manufacturing operation.

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this leadership role, you will drive MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) purchasing strategy, focusing heavily on high-value contract negotiation, vendor consolidation, and cost optimization. This position oversees MRO spend across multiple facilities, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives related to cost reduction, risk mitigation, and operational continuity.

You’ll lead cross-functional sourcing initiatives, negotiate and manage long-term supplier agreements, and deliver measurable savings through strategic sourcing and supplier performance management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead all MRO contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms and robust supplier performance clauses to support corporate cost containment and risk management.
  • Supervise and coach a junior buyer, overseeing all aspects of MRO procurement across multiple divisions.
  • Execute complex, high-dollar vendor negotiations, multi-year agreements, and bundled services contracts to maximize value and reduce total cost of ownership.
  • Analyze spend data, consumption patterns, and inventory levels to identify cost-saving opportunities and streamline supply chains.
  • Develop and maintain corporate-wide supplier agreements for critical MRO categories and services.
  • Partner with plant leadership and maintenance teams to forecast needs and implement vendor changes with minimal operational disruption.
  • Conduct and manage RFQs, TCO analysis, and supplier scorecards to evaluate contract performance and compliance.
  • Monitor supplier KPIs and hold vendors accountable to service level agreements and performance metrics.
  • Create a centralized, standardized Approved Vendor List for MRO supplies and services.
  • Drive initiatives to consolidate suppliers, reduce redundancy, and optimize economies of scale across facilities.
  • Stay ahead of market trends and commodity pricing to inform sourcing strategies and mitigate risk.
  • Represent the purchasing function in cross-functional initiatives tied to CapEx projects, equipment installations, and operational expansions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies, ethics, and sustainability initiatives.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of progressive purchasing experience, with a strong focus on contract negotiation, vendor management, and strategic sourcing.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in an MRO or indirect procurement environment.
  • Manufacturing industry background is required; experience with heavy industrial or multi-site operations is a strong asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Business.

    SCMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, ERP/MRP systems, and procurement analytics tools.
  • Experience with Lean/Kaizen, Kanban, or ROP methodologies is beneficial.

If you’re a strategic thinker with a sharp eye for cost, contracts, and continuous improvement – and ready to lead change within a fast-paced manufacturing environment – we want to hear from you.
