We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cutter with experience in the food industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and fish cutting, ensuring that all products are cut, packaged, and presented to meet our high standards of quality and safety. This role is essential in maintaining our commitment to exceptional customer service and food safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with filleting, trimming, and portioning seafood products according to specifications.
- Ensure quality control by checking for bones, defects, and proper cut sizes.
- Operate knives and other hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Package and label fillets for shipping or storage as per company procedures.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including equipment and tools.
- Dispose of waste materials according to sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Assist in loading/unloading materials and moving products within the facility.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Perform other general labor duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- To follow the Canadian health and food safety regulations when handling all seafood out of container.
- Must make a daily count of supplies i.e. boxes, bags, cleaning, sanitizing, & cutting blade.
- To weigh halibut in totes.
- To assist with picking orders when days are slow.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in seafood processing or food production is must.
- Must upkeep the Food Safety Handler’s certification (expires every 5 years).
- Ability to work in a cold, wet environment for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 60 lbs.
- Team-oriented, with good communication and reliability.
- Willingness to follow instructions and learn new tasks.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English, bi-lingual in Chinese is an asset.
- Must be able to work on Saturdays.
- Must be willing to stay longer on days to complete orders when needed.
