Role: Lead Production Support Analyst
Location: Down town Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days/week from office)

We are looking for a highly skilled Production Support Engineer with expertise in COBOL and AS400 to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining production systems, ensuring smooth operations, and minimizing downtime. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide L1/L2 production support for applications running on AS400 (iSeries) with COBOL.
- Monitor and troubleshoot batch jobs, system logs, and job queues, ensuring smooth execution of scheduled processes.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, working closely with development, QA, and infrastructure teams.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and implement permanent fixes.
- Support and maintain CL programs, RPG, COBOL applications, and DB2 databases on AS400 systems.
- Handle data fixes, performance tuning, and application debugging as required.
- Collaborate with business users and technical teams to address critical production issues.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes, including incident, change, and problem management.
- Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and best practices to enhance knowledge sharing within the team.
- Participate in on-call rotations and weekend support, as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in production support with expertise in COBOL and AS400 (iSeries).
- Strong understanding of AS400 commands, CL programs, job scheduling, and system monitoring.
- Experience with DB2 databases, SQL queries, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of incident management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, Jira, or similar).
- Ability to troubleshoot issues in batch processes, file transfers, and database performance.
- Familiarity with middleware technologies, APIs, and system integrations is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in RPG programming alongside COBOL.
- Knowledge of automation tools and scripting to improve support processes.
- Exposure to cloud migration strategies for legacy AS400 applications.
