Production Assistant (Warehouse)

  • Full-time permanent position – Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5pm
  • $16-$19 per hour, commensurate with experience
  • Etobicoke, Kipling Avenue & Evans Avenue (TTC accessible)
  • Do you love working with your hands, and have a strong attention to detail?

You’ve worked in warehouses or had general logistics positions before. Now you’re looking for a place where you can collaborate and be yourself. We’d like to offer you a positive, supportive, and fun work environment with opportunity for growth.

We’re Materialistic, a specialty fabric house providing green and blue screens, backdrops, drapery, technical fabrics and custom soft goods for films, television, and various entertainment industries. We’re looking for a new Production Assistant with a willingness to learn, and we hope that search ends now, with you.

    Production Assistant (Warehouse)

You will be our resident jack-of-all trades, take part in collaborative problem solving, and channel your inner MacGyver, as we find unexpected solutions together. Our work ebbs and flows depending on our projects, meaning some days you’ll have variety in your tasks, and others you may be completing a consistent, larger task for a longer time.

Each production we work with has unique and specific needs, and the physical work will keep you on the move all day.

Unlike most warehouse jobs, you’ll get to interact with our customers. Your interpersonal skills will serve you well, as you help the diverse people who come in daily.

    Practically speaking, you will:

    • Handle, store, receive, and track incoming and outgoing fabric shipments
    • Clean (and/or repair) fabrics
    • Maintain a clean and tidy facility
    • Look up information on our computerized system to check incoming and outgoing orders for accuracy, and pick and package these orders according to order forms
    • Engage with our customers to assess the condition of the fabrics during any drop-off or pick-up of fabrics

If you don’t know how to do that, not to worry – we’ll teach you the tricks of the trade!

You’re a great fit for this position because you are:

    • A self-starter – you take initiative and don’t need others to keep you on task. You take ownership over your work and enjoy finding ways to keep busy.
    • Reliable – you’re punctual, and you follow through on your commitments.
    • Flexible – you like the challenge of meeting shifting demands, and don’t get bent out of shape easily.
    • Detail-oriented – you’re meticulous, careful, and organized.

    Working with Materialistic

This is a full-time permanent position, offering $16-19 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus vacation and overtime. You’ll work Monday to Friday in our sunlit warehouse in Etobicoke, from 9:00-5:00pm, with flexibility as needed.

We’re a small company doing elite work. You’ll work closely with the owner, who has over 25 years in the entertainment industries. This is your chance to become an expert in fabrics and their role in film productions. Our culture is positive and energetic. We care about one another and enjoy working hard together. You’ll grow personally and professionally in our supportive environment.

We are constantly inspired here because the projects we work on touch the lives of so many people. We get to be a small part of entertaining and inspiring the world. We know that what we do matters.

If this sounds like your kind of job, we want to meet you!

We are also considering candidates who haven’t graduated yet – so, if you’re in your third or fourth year of study, this could be the role for you!

    Here’s what we’re looking for:

    • Physically fit and able to lift/carry 60 lbs or more throughout the workday
    • Experience working in a warehouse or general logistics position
    • Experience in a customer-service or customer-facing role
    • A basic mechanical inclination or comfortability using simple hand tools (e.g., hammer, screwdriver, etc.)
    • A valid driver’s license

Anything on this list would be considered an asset, but is not required:

    • Average level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel for basic data entry
    • Experience with sewing, fabrics, or design in any capacity
    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in fashion, design, or similar
