Policy Analyst – Member and Partner Engagement

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Member and Partner Engagement, the Policy Analyst will be part of a team responsible for providing leadership and support to Health Association continuing care (long term care and home care) and Disability Support Program forums/networks, advisory groups, special interest groups and/or working groups as may be assigned. This includes researching and analyzing complex issues and consulting with stakeholders, government officials, internal staff and technical experts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing written communications including letters, briefs, reports, and presentations on current issues.

  • Developing and implementing work plans, identifying and defining key initiatives and outcomes, conducting research, writing white papers, and making recommendations for consideration.

  • Analyzing data, including health and public policy, to assess its impact on Health Association members.

  • Establishing positive and productive working relationships with appropriate government officials at bureaucratic levels and other key stakeholders.

  • Monitoring information from a variety of sources to provide early identification of policy issues that may impact Health Association Nova Scotia members.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Public Policy or a related Health discipline

  • 3-5 years similar experience


Critical Skills & Applicant Attributes:

  • Detailed knowledge of the operational aspects of continuing care delivery in Nova Scotia as well as the Disability Support Program Sector

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for preparing and presenting information

  • High level of capability in the areas of analytical, research and problem-solving skills

  • Able to organize and facilitate working groups, including the ability to lead groups to consensus positions from divergent viewpoints

  • Ability to work on a wide range of issues simultaneously and deliver on identified outcomes

  • Experience in using databases to do research/provide information

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
