Job Title: Manager, Plant Health
Supervisor: Master Grower and Head of Operations
Work Location: On-site; Brampton, Ontario
Hours of Work: 7:00am to 3:30pm (regular overtime is required)
Role Summary
The Manager, Plant Health will oversee all aspects of plant health within our cultivation operations, ensuring optimal growth conditions, maximizing yields, and maintaining plant quality standards. This role involves proactive monitoring, issue resolution, data analysis, and collaboration with various departments to enhance plant vitality and productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify plant health and identify problems (mold/disease, insect, nutrient deficiencies).
- Environmental and Irrigation system use and troubleshooting.
- Develop and adjust IPM schedules to mitigate pest and disease pressures effectively.
- Support in the maintenance and operation of irrigation system including pH and nutrient level, as directed.
- Provide training to the team in all aspects of cultivating in accordance with our practices and procedures.
- Oversee fertilization practices and irrigation scheduling, ensuring optimal nutrient delivery and water usage.
- Support the Master Grower/Designate in ensuring cultivation tasks are done on time and in according with our practices and procedures.
- Maintain excellent records and document all information required in each batch record using good documentation practices.
- Facilitate and oversee inspections using inventory and compliance audits.
- Conduct investigations when necessary – if inventory does not match production and transfer records.
- Monitor and report critical temperature and humidity levels.
- Assist with calculating production yields and determining areas of improvement for each harvest.
- Prepare reports summarizing harvest yields and conditions.
- Sample and record crop fertility data, analyze trends, and report findings to senior management to inform decision-making.
- Monitor stock of cultivation supplies and equipment and work with Procurement to order supplies.
- Maintain safe working conditions and practices within the cultivation area.
- Utilize Software system to record growing, harvest, weighing/packaging events (seed to sale system management).
- Establish, understand, and follow all department SOPs and related forms to GPP standards.
- Complete all required documentation using good documentation practices.
- Work closely with the irrigation specialist, Master Grower/Designate, cultivation staff, and other departments to ensure cohesive operations and optimal plant health.
- Strong communication with the Facilities Manager, Post-Harvest Manager, and Executive Management
- Attend and participate in meetings as required.
- Other duties as required
Job Requirements:
5+ years of relevant employment experience in a cultivation role for a Canadian Licensed Producer is required
Previous experience is a leadership role is required
Proven experience in large scale cultivation is required
Relevant educational experience is an asset
Growers Pesticide Safety Course is an asset
Proven ability to prevent pest and disease / ability to recognize issues associated with pest and disease as well as the management and treatment of issues
GPP experience considered a strong asset – willingness to learn our quality management system requirements.
