Job Title: Youth Outreach Worker

General Job Description:
(Part-time with opportunity for full time) Under the direction of the Outreach Supervisor, the Youth Outreach Worker is responsible for connecting with and promoting engagement opportunities for at-risk youth identified by School Districts and Police.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Youth Outreach worker performs a wide range of duties including:
- implementing and delivering intervention plans as identified by case managers; mentoring, coaching and supporting individuals to promote personal and social growth, and educational commitment
- communicating with Youth Outreach families as needed;
- promoting and maintaining professional behavior, and following YBYG policies and procedures;
- attending staff meetings, YBYG and Youth Outreach training;
- maintaining effective documentation;
- attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings that support the intervention plan;
- working in partnership with professionals from other organizations that support the intervention plan;
- promoting YBYG by participating in community events;
- delivering presentations to community organizations and schools as needed
- attending regular training and development opportunities to maintain an up-to-date knowledge related to the field.
Qualifications include:
- Education – minimum high school diploma and a one-year certificate in a related field (Social Services, Child and Youth Care Worker, Criminology or Psychology with an emphasis on youth)
- Certification – Mental Health First Aid, First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Experience – Minimum of 2 years working with youth, at least 1 of which need to be in a school setting or as a program participant/youth leader/program assistant

The Outreach Worker should demonstrate competence in:

- Relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.
- Communication: Good communication and presentation skills.
Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques. - Organization: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities.
Working Conditions:
- Weekdays, evenings and weekends; transporting youth with challenging behaviours; ability to travel between schools and community centres and events.
Compensation Range: $20-$25/hour
