Responsibilities
- Coordinate and direct nursing care, serving as the clinical expert on the unit.
- Lead and mentor nursing staff during challenging or high-acuity situations to ensure safe, effective care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on best-practice standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff to achieve optimal patient and family outcomes.
- Contribute to unit workflow efficiency and resource management, including staff assignments and operational support.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in Nova Scotia (or eligibility for provincial practice).
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience in an acute care or Med/Surg setting.
- Demonstrated clinical judgment and application of evidence-based practice in complex care environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and clinical reporting.
- Flexibility to work extended shifts (11.25 hours) and rotate through various clinical areas as required.
Required Skills
- Active RN licensure.
- Relevant clinical experience.
- Availability matching the schedule.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery.
- Leadership and mentoring experience.
Pay range and compensation package
- Contract Length: 34 business days.
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 11.25 hours each.
- Onboarding: Completion of required orientation and competency modules prior to start.
