Fraction is one of Canada’s newest mortgage lenders with possibly the most unique mortgage offering on the market today: we enable homeowners to put their mortgage payments on pause for up to five years.
We are seeking a Mortgage Specialist in Vancouver, BC, to provide exceptional customer service to the mortgage brokers and customers.
Here’s the full hiring process, broken down:
- Screening to make sure you think the position/company is a fit for you. You have to want to work at a small, rapidly growing company.
- Interview with one of our team members to go over your skills, background, and fit with Fraction.
- Take-home challenge. It takes time, we know, but our hope is that it a) it more closely shows how you actually produce work, and b) it is our replacement for the painful all-day onsite that lots of companies do. Takes anywhere from 2-3 hours, depending on your speed, so we give people a week to do it.
Somewhat unique (as far as we know) is that we actually have every single person in the company across all departments do a take-home challenge. - A final culture/values interview with the co-founders. This is a chance for you to get some face time with each of the founders to get a feel for the vision we are trying to enact and ensure it resonates with you.
The Role
You will work within our Operations department. For the right person, there are tremendous growth opportunities while working closely with different departments and becoming the in-house expert on our customers’ needs.
What you’ll do
- Provide customer service and be the primary point of contact with the clients and mortgage brokers to gather necessary documentation in order to fund mortgages.
- Communicate with our outside partners, such as mortgage brokers, lawyers, and appraisers in a customer-first manner.
- Contribute to making Fraction’s processes as efficient as possible by always seeking the opportunity to optimize and automate processes where it makes sense
- Work on other tasks as necessary.
Who you are
- Licensed as a Submortgage Broker/Agent in British Columbia, Alberta, or Ontario.
All would be desirable. - At least 3 years of prior experience in residential mortgages with familiarity with private lending, underwriting, and mortgage operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify client concerns and objections.
- A customer-first mindset.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in ambiguity.
