We are looking for an experienced Site Superintendent to lead the on-site execution of a ground-up, multi-residential construction project for our client in the design build and general contracting space. This role is crucial in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. Plan, schedule, organize, direct, and control construction projects from inception to completion.
Review project plans and specifications; provide input on building design, scheduling, and potential issues. Oversee day-to-day field activities and ensure work is completed with professionalism and honesty. Contract, schedule, and supervise subcontractors and tradespeople.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors. Collaborate with the Project Manager to address and resolve design discrepancies and construction conflicts. Maintain and enforce the construction schedule, making necessary adjustments to meet deadlines.
Conduct quality control checks and ensure all work aligns with project standards. Monitor material inventory and ensure timely delivery of essential supplies. Coordinate and manage site inspections and independent testing as required.
Ensure the site remains secure and safe at all times, including evenings and weekends. Perform physical labour when needed to ensure efficient project execution. Enforce high standards for construction practices and site cleanliness.
Monitor and control labour, material, and equipment costs. Set up the job site office and determine equipment needs. Lead on-site meetings and conduct employee orientations and safety sessions.
Manage project documentation such as timesheets, purchase orders, and site directives. Maintain site safety compliance with OHSA and construction regulations. University or college degree in Construction or Project Management, Technical, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. ~10+ years of experience in ground-up, multi-residential construction environments. 10+ unit experience.
Experience supervising projects in the 3-5 million budget range. Feeling comfortable with addition projects and/or pre fab. ~ Ability to interpret construction, shop, mechanical, and electrical drawings. ~ Deep understanding of Canadian building codes, permitting, and compliance. ~ Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and environmental regulations. ~ Valid G driver’s license. ~ Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction management software is a plus. ~ Excellent planning, leadership, and problem-solving skills. ~ Demonstrated ability to lead teams, conduct performance reviews, and manage disciplinary matters. ~
