This is a working-lead role, with 80% approximately design work and 20% supervisory responsibilities. Successful candidates will have long-term experience in a similar lead or supervisor role, with demonstrated knowledge of machine design and industrial automation. From automotive to medical and pharmaceutical companies, we have helped hundreds of organizations around the world successfully improve their business with our expert insight in the best feeding solutions.Why join us: • Culture of Kindness • Team Environment • Management Team who Cares • Competitive Wages • Learning and Development • Employee Assistant Program • Employee Benefits Program including medical and dental coverage, & health spending account • Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses Allowance, and Custom Hearing ProtectionShift Schedule: • Monday to Friday, Day shift; The employee must be on-site by 8:00am • 8.5-hour day with ½ hour unpaid lunch from 12:30pm-1:00pm • Overtime availableOverview: Design Responsibilities: • Report to Plant Manager • Generate concept representation, proof of principle, preliminary or final design CAD models • Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes as needed • Design and perform proof of principle • Create and generate the manufacturing package and associated BOM • Maintain detailed notes, design calculations, and other documentation (including drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters and performance guarantees) • Effectively communicate, coordinate, and troubleshoot with all necessary departments, including Service, Manufacturing, Assembly, Electrical Controls, and Project Management • Provide customer support as needed • Review and adapt to information regarding product innovations, competitors, and market conditions • Follow design standards and best practices • Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, as well as VTR’s Mission, Vision, and Values • Other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities: • Oversee and lead Mechanical Design department • Delegate work to Mechanical Design department members and ensure team members are meeting timelines and following design standards and best practices • Communicate and coordinate with other departments, project management, and senior management regarding project updates, issues, etc. • Attend various required meetings • Review and update RoadRunner as needed • Facilitate training and development of all Mechanical Design department team members • Coach, train, and assist Mechanical Design Team as needed • Assist HR with hiring and progressive discipline processes for Mechanical Design department as needed • Assist with department enhancement and innovation • General cleaning of workspace • Ensure team is following Health & Safety guidelines and adhering to VTR’s mission, vision, and values • Other general labour tasks as requiredWhat You'll Bring: • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer • Long-term experience and strong knowledge of machine design and automation Industrial Automation as an asset • 3-5 years of experience in a similar Design Lead or Supervising role required • Experience within medical, nuclear, aerospace, food, or packaging industry design • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks required • Post Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Design, and Drafting in CAD systems • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, Word, & Teams • Strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills • Demonstrates adaptability and the ability to work under tight deadlines • Demonstrates innovative thinking and proactive/reactive problem-solving skills • Commitment to quality and safetyAdditional Information: • Overtime after 40 hours • Minimum 40 hours per week • DPSP Matching Program • Benefits, Health Spending Account, & Life Insurance • Annual Bonus • Casual dress • Annual PPE Allowance • Birthday Paid Day Off • Paid Shutdown between Christmas and New Years • Lunchroom with provided food and drinks • Biweekly Lunches • Paid education and training • Own vehicle or reliable transportation required; not transit accessible Work Conditions: • 100% on-site at our Grimsby facility • Temperature-controlled environment • Manufacturing setting with exposure to loud work noises when on shop floor and prolonged or frequent standing • Office environment with prolonged or frequent sitting at computer/desk • CSA Approved Safety Shoes Required • PPE (hearing protection and safety glasses) provided when requiredWe thank all applicants for their interest; however, we will only contact those who best meet our needs and qualifications.In accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, VTR Feeder Solutions is an equal opportunity employer who is committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free recruitment and selection process.
