Job Description
<p><p>Apply for the <b>Manager, Finance</b> position at <b>Extendicare</b>.</p><p>Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Manager partners closely with ParaMed operations and the corporate finance group to manage general accounting and reporting functions of the division. The role also involves analyzing and preparing annual budgets, interim forecasts, and cash flow projections.</p>
<p>The position is located at our Head Office in Markham with weekly travel to Mississauga, and offers a hybrid work model.</p>
<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Oversee and monitor day‑to‑day accounting operations and month‑ and year‑end processes.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with financial procedures and taxation requirements.</li>
<li>Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries and assist in the closing process and financial statement preparation.</li>
<li>Identify, research, and resolve accounting errors and discrepancies.</li>
<li>Oversee preparation of regulatory and governmental reports.</li>
<li>Review and approve all balance sheet reconciliations.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with other department personnel to obtain information and/or correct transactions.</li>
<li>Lead and develop the accounting team.</li>
<li>Stay informed of developments in accounting, and changing governmental and legal requirements.</li>
<li>Assume responsibility for related duties, including special projects as required or assigned.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in finance.</li>
<li>University degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.</li>
<li>CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) or CFA certification is required.</li>
<li>Expert knowledge of Excel and ability to manage large amounts of data.</li>
<li>Highly detailed, analytical skills with ability to resolve issues independently.</li>
<li>Strong presence and relationship‑building ability.</li>
<li>Ability to articulate ideas and positions to senior leaders.</li>
<li>Collaborative, relationship‑oriented, self‑driven with a desire to learn our business and industry quickly.</li>
