About the Role

ATB Financial is seeking a Manager, ERM and Risk Strategy to play a pivotal role in shaping our enterprise risk management and risk strategy initiatives. In this dynamic position, you will be instrumental in developing governance frameworks, crafting impactful policies, and delivering insightful reporting. You will lead the charge in comprehensive risk assessments and remediation efforts, offering expert risk advisory services across ATB Financial.

Collaborating enterprise-wide, you will measure and analyze Enterprise Key Risk Indicators, establish crucial thresholds and triggers, and proactively assess ATB Financial’s overall risk profile. Your contributions will drive compliance, standardization, and efficiency across all enterprise risk functions, business units, and projects. You will be responsible for authoring key policies, serving as a trusted advisor on enterprise risk management, and institutionalizing best practices throughout ATB Financial.

Beyond core ERM responsibilities, you will provide critical support to our risk strategy, assisting with the development and tracking of key deliverables and coordinating robust risk management plans. You will play a vital role in preparing compelling materials for senior management and board reporting, including the compilation of essential data for dashboards. Additionally, you will contribute to learning and development initiatives within the risk function and actively participate in the planning and execution of strategic risk projects that drive ATB Financial forward.



Accountabilities

Championing Enterprise Risk at ATB:

  • Drive and collaborate on key enterprise risk and risk strategy initiatives, shaping how we manage risk across ATB.
  • Lead the charge in developing robust governance and policy frameworks, including crafting essential policies, frameworks, and guidelines for enterprise risk management.
  • Collaborate on risk assessment, remediation efforts, and insightful reporting, ensuring ATB is always ahead of the curve.
  • Provide insightful advisory services navigating enterprise risk.
  • Instill and embed leading risk management practices.
  • Provide vital support for internal audit reviews, business continuity planning, and Risk and Control Assessments within ERM, and contribute to crucial ASFI regulatory initiatives.

Strategic Collaboration and Insightful Measurement:

  • Partner across the enterprise to thoughtfully contribute to setting ATB’s Risk Appetite, Enterprise Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), thresholds, and triggers, guiding our strategic direction.
  • Proactively engage with subject matter experts and participate in quarterly top threats calls and risk profile discussions to gain deep insight into ATB’s risk profile. This involves diligent KRI monitoring and a thorough review of New Initiative Risk Assessments.
  • Be the catalyst for compliance, standardization, and efficiency across all enterprise risk functions, business units, and projects.

  • Consult proactively with management on the development and tracking of key risk strategy deliverables, ensuring our plans are met.
  • Define and implement leading standards for the seamless coordination of our risk management plans, fostering consistency and clarity.
  • Play a pivotal role in crafting compelling materials for senior management and board reporting, showcasing our progress and insights.
  • Dive deep into data to provide actionable, strategic recommendations for dashboards and reports that inform critical decisions.
  • Contribute to learning and development initiatives within the risk function, nurturing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Actively contribute to the strategic planning and successful execution of critical risk projects that shape ATB’s future.

The responsibilities and focus of the Manager, ERM and Risk Strategy role are dynamic and will evolve. This evolution is anticipated to be driven by the changing requirements and strategic direction of both the Risk Management team and the broader Risk Management function within the organization. As the risk landscape shifts, regulatory demands increase, and business objectives adapt, the essential duties and expertise required for this role will also evolve. This ensures the role remains critical and responsive to the enterprise’s ongoing needs.

  • Sharp analytical prowess and sound judgment: You possess a keen ability to dig into data, critically assess risk profiles, and interpret key risk indicators to create dynamic dashboards that tell a powerful story.
  • A master of compelling communication for leaders: You’re experienced in crafting impactful reports and presentations for senior management. Bonus points if you’re a wizard with Tableau and can translate data into easily digestible formats.
  • Data-driven insights: You’re proficient in analyzing and interpreting data, with a talent for compiling information and creating dynamic dashboards that tell a powerful story.
  • Organizational brilliance: You’re a pro at juggling multiple tasks and projects with ease, keeping everything on track and delivering with precision.

Additional Information

  • This is a 12 month term opportunity, with a possible chance of extension depending on evolving organisational needs.
  • This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 3 days on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.
