Maintenance Associate

Position:               Maintenance Associate -Cleaning

Status:                Seasonal Full Time/Part-Time

Hours of work:   Sunday to Thursday 2:30 pm to 11 pm.

Location:               Distribution Centre – Brampton, ON

The Role 

As a member of the Maintenance team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to working with the members of the maintenance department cleaning team to ensure proper cleaning and sweeping of Distribution center as well as safe collection and handling of disposal/recycling bins to ensure proper source separation into balers and compactors. Other duties as assigned will include, but are not limited to racking inspections, landscaping, building inspections (interior, exterior) and other projects for the building(s) are handled accordingly.  Safe operation of all maintenance related MHE, battery equipment (including battery watering), compactors, balers, power tools, boom lifts, scissor lifts, are a must at all times.  Safe daily operation and valid certifications of MHE is mandatory (training provided).

Responsibilities 

• The successful candidate must be able to work independently and must possess the ability to analyze and resolve common problems related to their own job functions
• Coordinate with disposal and recycling services to schedule pick up
• Operate horizontal and vertical balers as well as garbage and cardboard compactors
• The candidate must also be able to contribute ideas and suggestions to improve departmental efficiency while completing their own tasks competently and effectively
• This role requires a dedicated team player that will foster a positive work environment and assist co-workers and supervisors
• Must be able to safely work independently and comfortable working with many different types of power tools and equipment
• Comfortable with heights (up to 30 feet), with working outdoors and at times in dirty or dusty surroundings
• Valid certification and daily operation of all MHE is mandatory

Requirements 

• Availability to work various shifts (AM, PM, weekends, holidays and possibly off-site BBY warehouses)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively and to work inside and outside year round
• MHE Certification and experience is an asset
• Willing to get trained on Material Handling Equipment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision
• Painting experience is an asset

Education 

• Grade 12 or equivalent is desired, although a combination of relevant education, training, and experience will be considered
