About Us
Sackville Concrete has been in operation since 1985 and is a proud member of OSCO Concrete. Sackville Concrete supplies residential work along with large-scale industrial/commercial projects, making us one one of the largest concrete suppliers in the Halifax Regional Municipality. OSCO Concrete also operates a large fleet of concrete pumps, including the largest concrete boom pump east of Montreal. In addition to its shared resources with other OSCO Concrete members, the Bedford location also hosts a four-bay repair facility capable of handling the largest OSCO Concrete pumps in the fleet.
We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Loader Operator to join our Ready Mix Concrete plant team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a front-end loader to move aggregate materials, maintain material stockpiles, and support overall plant operations. This position plays a key part in ensuring consistent, high-quality production for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Operate a front-end loader to transport aggregate materials to and from stockpiles, bins, and hoppers.
- Maintain accurate material blends to support daily concrete production.
- Inspect, clean, and perform basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Assist with yard organization, inventory management, and housekeeping tasks.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with plant operators, drivers, and other team members.
- Support general plant operations as needed, including batching assistance or light labor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have own reliable transportation as shift start times do not match with current public transit schedules
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment, preferably a front-end loader.
- Experience working in a Ready Mix Concrete or aggregate environment considered an asset.
- Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, outdoor environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with daily equipment inspections.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and overtime when required.
- Must be familiar with and adhere to service requirements, equipment and operator limitations and safe operating procedures.
Physically able to lift heavy objects (lbs or more)
