Reporting to the Live Haul Dispatch Supervisors the Live Haul Dispatch will be responsible for dispatching Live Haul Drivers, verifying all documents received and scaling all incoming loads. Tracking and monitoring loads to ensure delivery to the plant for processing.

SHIFT:  5:00PM – 1:30AM – Sunday – Thursday

What you will be doing:

  • Verifies Forms 3, 6, and F32 to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information being reported.
  • Scans, copies and distributes all 3rd party paperwork, as required.
  • Manages all relevant documentation and paperwork for U.S. Loads, including Health Certificate, CFIA envelope and Canadian Customs Invoice for submission to the CFIA. Edits all incorrect paperwork, reporting all changes to the Live Haul Dispatch Supervisor.
  • Weighs incoming and outgoing trailers as needed. Enters all incoming trailer information into the relevant computer applications, ensuring all information is correct.
  • Assesses, responds to, and ensures the resolution of any breakdowns, including equipment, scale, etc.
  • Communicates any schedule deviations (e.g. delays or any other issues) to the Live Haul Drivers, Live Haul Dispatch Supervisor, Farmers, Catching Crews, and the Plant, as needed.
  • Dispatches Live Haul Drivers, and provides paperwork, notes, and any other necessary information. Date/time stamps all Maple Lodge Farms drivers’ paperwork.
  • Logs and communicates all distressed loads, emergency calls, catching delays and transponder usage.
  • Answers all calls, and files documentation as required.
  • Attends all meetings as required.
  • Policies, Processes & Procedures
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 3 years’ dispatch experience, working with livestock, preferably in a unionized environment;
  • Knowledge of the Health of Animals Act and CFIA humane poultry handling procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, Loss Control, etc.;
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Knowledge of process improvement tools;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in logistics, or equivalent experience;
  • Canadian Livestock Transport (CLT) training an asset.
